Turn your day around with gratitude

Have you ever experienced those days that just won't cooperate? I've had my fair share - missed the alarm, spilled the coffee, relentless email notifications pinging as I scrub the mark off my new white blouse… It can feel like too much. But I've found a simple practice that transforms even the hardest days: gratitude. Why Gratitude? Gratitude shifts our lens from what's missing to what we have. If you’ve spent any time with me you’ll probably know, gratitude is one of my favourite subjects! Like rose-coloured glasses, it allows us to focus on the positives on our career path, expanding productivity, creativity, and leadership. You see, two types of energy fuel our career goals - one that contracts (think fear or stress) and one that expands. Gratitude is that expansive energy. It's a breath of fresh air that fills our sails, propelling us towards greater fulfilment and success. My Gratitude Practise: So, how do you bring this transformative perspective into your career? It’s less about HOW you do it, and more about doing it CONSISTENTLY. Everyone practises gratitude differently, but here’s how I find works best for me. Each workday, before the rush begins, I take a moment. I think about my accomplishments, the little things that spark joy, and even the challenges that have shaped me. This shift in perspective never fails to energise me and foster deeper connections at work. Here’s some other ways you can practise gratitude:

  1. Gratitude Journal: Just before bed, jot down three things you're grateful for. They can be grand achievements or simple pleasures.

  2. Express Appreciation: A simple 'thank you' can go a long way. Celebrate the small acts of kindness around you.

  3. Uncover the Silver Lining: Even in challenging times, there's a hidden gem. Can you find it?

  4. Share the Gratitude: Mention something you’re grateful for to a friend or colleague. You'll be surprised how uplifting these small conversations can be!

Now it's your turn. How do you weave gratitude into your work-life? What are you grateful for in your career today?

That's all for this week. No matter how hectic your week ahead, I hope we've inspired you to focus on gratitude. Your dream job is possible, and we're here to help you achieve it! Have a wonderful weekend, Trinity (on behalf of myself and Andrea) Views Professional Development www.viewspd.com.au
